视觉传达设计不是一种追求独特性的艺术，要想在一定的历史经纬中把中国当代视觉设计比较恰当的描述出来，必须超越对视觉语言本体单纯的聚焦，这就需要一种兼顾的、具有包容性的研究。这个讲座试图把视觉设计放在改革开放以来媒介转型和社会变迁的大背景中，从设计的社会和历史语境出发来观察中国当代视觉传达设计之变，希望这样一种写作能够丰富我们对于中国当代设计的理解。

Visual communication design is not an art that only pursues the particularity. In order to properly describe contemporary Chinese Visual communication design in a certain historical context, It must go beyond simply focusing on the ontology of visual language. So we need a balanced and inclusive approach to academic research. 

This lecture attempts to put visual design in the context of media transformation and social changes since the reform and opening up, and observe the transformation of contemporary Chinese Visual communication design from the perspective of the society and history of design.  I hope that such a writing can enrich our understanding of contemporary Chinese design.

GUEST NFORMATION

周博老师主要研究领域为设计的历史与理论、艺术史以及视觉文化研究。出版专著《人道的栖居：中国当代设计批评》（2021）、《现代设计伦理思想史》（2014）、《中国现代文字设计图史》（2018）、《新中国美术家·周令钊》（2020），并译著及主编多部著作。已完成国家社科基金艺术学青年项目两项（2014；2020），目前负责国家社科基金艺术学重点项目和重大项目子课题各一项。获奖包括教育部第八届高等学校科学研究优秀成果奖（2020）、霍英东教育基金会高校青年教师奖（2014）等。

The main research areas include history and theory of design, history of art and visual culture. Professor Zhou’s publications including monographs: Chinese Contemporary Design Criticism, Modern Design and Ethical Thinking, Peking University Press, 2014. The Story of Modern Chinese Typography, Peking University Press, 2018. Zhou Lingzhao, CITIC Press, 2020, and many translated and edited books. He has completed two National Social Science Foundation Art Projects for Youth (2014; 2020), and currently is responsible for one key project and one sub-project of major project of National Social Science Foundation of China. Awards include the 8th Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education (2020), Fok Ying-Tong Education Foundation Young University Teacher Award (2014), etc.
